Our success lives in long-standing relationships—with clients who return, communities that trust us, and the designers in our studio. Since opening a 300-square-foot Coral Gables office in 1988, the practice has grown through restoration work, international commissions, enduring partnerships, and a shared belief in design with sensitivity.

01 / The founder · 1988

Andrew Witkin.

It begins with Andrew Witkin, the founder. A commitment to thoughtful landscape design gives the practice its roots—and the first letter of its name.

02 / The first partner

Kelly Hults.

Kelly Hults becomes the first partner. Witkin becomes Witkin Hults: two names, a shared practice, and a belief in what they can build together.

03 / The partnership grows

Chris & Jenney.
Partners.

Senior staff Chris Eaves and Jenney Hernandez become partners. The practice grows into a broader partnership, and “Partners” becomes part of the name.

Chapter 01 / 1988–1995

A practice takes root.

  1. Founded in Coral Gables; Lennar becomes the first client.

  2. First international commission: Great House Cayman.

  3. First high-rise: Oceania 1.

  4. A larger studio; Hurricane Andrew restoration.

  5. Witkin joins Miami-Dade’s Shoreline Review Committee.

  6. Witkin becomes BASF Vice President.

Chapter 02 / 1998–2000

Beyond the shoreline.

  1. Kelly Hults joins. Little Palm Island restoration. Sandals partnership.

  2. The studio moves to North Miami Beach.

  3. Restoring Cap Juluca, Anguilla.

Chapter 03 / 2002–2007

A shared vision.

  1. Century Parc wins BASF Gold.

  2. Witkin enters BASF’s Hall of Fame.

  3. First Ritz-Carlton project opens, Cancún.

  4. Hults becomes partner; new Hollywood headquarters.

  5. Caribe Hilton design begins.

Chapter 04 / 2008–2012

New perspectives.

  1. Jenney Hernandez joins. Mill Creek collaboration. Alaqua wins Gold.

  2. Sheridan Station receives ULI’s Vision Award.

  4. Brazil office opens; Olympic-related projects.

Chapter 05 / 2016–2020

Stronger together.

  1. Eaves and Hernandez become VPs. Multiple BASF Platinum awards.

Our people + history

Andrew Witkin founded the practice in 1988 around the idea that exterior environments can lift the spirit. Kelly Hults joined in 1998 and became the firm’s first partner in 2006.

Jenney Hernandez and Chris Eaves joined the studio in 2008 and 2011, respectively. In 2020 they became partners, and the practice became Witkin Hults + Partners: four leaders, one studio, and a growing family of designers.
